Dear Chicago House,
Oh my, it has been rather cold this week, we bottomed out at -19 deg F ( that is -28 deg C) so cold in fact that a pane of glass in our bathroom spontaneously cracked across it’s entire width.
While I dared not venture out at the beginning of the week, cabin fever prevailed. So I donned many layers, gloves, scarves and boots and set off out to find some icy goodness.
I think I succeeded with a visit to the shores of Lake Michigan.
These photos were taken at my secret beach – it is a lot more conducive to a spot of sun bathing in the summer. While there was no chance of collecting any drift wood to create another masterpiece for my walls like Sally the Seahorse., I could have made a cool ice sculpture with the huge chunks of ice but it was a bit chilly and I didn’t really want to hang around.
My next stop was at a local Forest Preserve where there were the mother of all icicles hanging off the eaves of some old cabins
Roll on this big thaw that is supposed to happen this weekend…I am not holding my breath!
love from
